Agri expo kicks off in Phnom Penh

The second annual Agri Livestock Aqua Fisheries Cambodia Expo kicked off yesterday at Phnom Penh’s Diamond Island exhibition centre. The show, which aims to connect international businesses to the Cambodian market, is being run by Vietnamese events firm Minh Vi Exhibition and Advertisement Services (VEAS) and runs until tomorrow.

Nguyen Ba Vinh, director general of VEAS, said the expo aims to strengthen international connections in trade and investment between Cambodia and other countries by providing opportunities for participating organisations to exchange information, obtain new equipment and knowledge, attract international partners and expand to foreign markets through comprehensive business-to-business programmes.

“We are putting on the exhibition for a second time because of market demand. International business people want to access the Cambodian market and local companies want to connect with other markets. Our duty is to connect them with each other,” Mr Vinh said.

Sor Chetra, deputy secretary at the Agricultural Ministry, said the second expo is bigger than last year’s, with about 40 agricultural sector companies involved.

“This event can help businessmen build their networks, while farmers are able to learn more about products to use for growing their crops and raising animals,” he said.

The exhibition boasts 80 brands from 13 countries: the US, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, India, China, Singapore, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Vietnam and Turkey, as well as Cambodia.

Oeng Sothy Group general manager Leng Mony Neath said taking part in the event allows his firm to show off its products made from date palm and to find the partners to cooperate with in future.

“Our presence here is to expand our networks and partners to boost our business.”
